Random doodle

Here's a random doodle fer ya. I downloaded the pencil Photoshop brushes from the Stumpy Pencil blog. I had so much fun playing around with them. The brushes do feel like you're drawing with a pencil! Check out the Stumpy Pencil blog here.

Crows are back

The sun is out, the sky is blue and the last bits of snow are melting. It's spring! The neighborhood crows are out and starting to bring their meals to the bird bath. They perch on the edge and dip their stray crackers and hamburger buns into the water before they eat them. I got to see one do this for the first time today since last fall, and I'm taking that as a sign that winter is finally over. Yay! Here's my little sketch of the happy bird.

Artist: Kyoko of Rachel's Cabinet

I'm currently obsessed with rabbits (mostly because they've been running around like crazy outside my studio window) so I was super excited to see these gorgeous watercolor paintings and prints by Kyoko of Rachel's Cabinet. The silhouette one on the bottom is my fav! See more in the Rachel's Cabinet and Kyoko Imazu Prints etsy stores. Also check out the Rachel's Cabinet blog.

Artist: Medile

Check out these awesome drawings by Medile. You get such a sense of life from the quick sketchy lines. They're little snapshots of a moment. I'm loving that bed that looks out to the ocean! Check out more of Medile's work in her etsy shop. Also check out her website to see her great stage and costume design work.

Artist: Tina Kügler

Check out these super darling illustrations by Tina Kügler. I love how happy all the characters are! And another bonus, Tina is from Wisconsin, yay! Gotta give an extra shoutout to my Wiscony and Minnesota peeps. Check out more of Tina's lovely work on her website, flickr and blog.

Artist: Christopher Koelle of Sweet Ride

I'm loving these drawings by Chris Koelle of Sweet Ride. They're inspired by vintage photographs. I love the addition of the hand drawn type. Too funny! You can check out more of Chris's work in this year's Poppytalk Holiday Marketplace, his website, blog and etsy store.

Artist: Paola Zakimi

These little illustrations by Paola Zakimi are super inspiring. Aren't they just lovely! They make me want to draw and paint all day long. Too fun. Check out more of Paola's amazing work over in her Etsy store.

Artist: Elbluo

These pieces by Elbluo really make me want to get drawing more. Aren't they super fun! I love all the intricate linework. See more work by Elbluo on his flickr site.

Artist: Virginia Kraljevic

Check out these awesome drawings by Virginia Kraljevic. There's definitely something calming about the "ordered chaos" in her line work. I love how they just get blacker and blacker. The last pic with the huge black plume of smoke coming out of the little tea pot is just darling. You can view many more and purchase prints in Virginia's Etsy store. Also check out her awesome website and blog.

Firekites, Autumn Story - chalk animation

This animated music video is so beautiful I can hardly stand it. It's from Firekites' album 'The Bowery'. The music video is co-directed by Yanni Kronenberg and Lucinda Schreiber. Check it out, I bet you'll love it just as much as I do. Found via Free People.

Artist: Jenny Meilihove

I'm loving these one of a kind painted bags by Jenny Meilihove. These ones are in her Be Happy Now Too store. That little sleeping kitty is so darling. Check out more of Jenny's work in Be Happy Now, Be Happy Now Too, her flickr, and her website.

Artist: Madeleine Floyd

I am in love with these paintings by Madeleine Floyd. I used to live by a park that had a duck that would stand up super straight just like the one in the first image. How darling! I love the name of the painting in the third image: "Ode to Jam". To see more fantastic pieces of art check out Madeleine's website here.

Artist: America Blasco

There's something about these drawings by America Blasco that I really like. I just love the sketchy free feeling of the lines and the pop of neon color. To see more check out America's blog and flickr site (where you can also see some cool photography).
